In this part of the article, we get to know the unique features of the Jotron AIS SART device. The technical specifications of this device, along with its small dimensions and easy portability, have made this product an efficient tool for rescuing injured people at sea. The Tron AIS-SART housing is similar to Jotron's Tron SART20 radar-SART, with an overall height of 251mm and a weight of only 450g.
The device is programmed with a unique identification code from the manufacturer and receives its position through the internal GPS antenna. These data are combined and transmitted using international AIS channels (AIS A and AIS B) in the marine VHF band. The Tron AIS-SART GMDSS search and rescue transmitter is "wheel-marked" in accordance with European Council Directive 96/98/ EC with the latest Commission Directive 2011/75/EU (7th Amendment).
According to the IMO SOLAS amendment in resolution MSC.256(84) Tron AIS-SART and Tron SART20 can both be used as "search and rescue locating devices", allowing the ship owner to use either product in accordance with Chapter III, SOLAS regulation 2.2 chooses.
