API pumps in Dubai UAE
A type of pump designed to comply with the American Petroleum Institute (API) Standard 610 for hydrocarbon transfer pumps. This type of pump is available in the Marine land LLC in various forms and may use the pumping mechanism. The API 610 standard is limited to centrifugal pumps, but API process pumps are included in the configurations provided.
The American Petroleum Institute (API) is the largest US business association for the oil and natural gas industry. The API focuses on the development of oil and petrochemical equipment and operating standards. The API maintains more than 500 recommended standards and procedures for everything from drills to environmental protection in the industry.
In terms of pumping equipment, centrifugal and rotary positive displacement pumps used in the petrochemical, gas, and oil industries must meet the requirements of American Petroleum Institute Standard 610 for public refinery services.
While ANSI standards refer to dimensional standards, API standards refer to the structure, design, and ability of the pump to manage high temperature and pressure.
Why API?
API pumps are heavier than ANSI pumps. Differences in enclosures, bearing enclosures, mounting brackets, and back cover arrangements allow API pumps to control greenhouse gas emissions and be more efficient and reliable in recommended applications.
-
Casings
API pump casings are sometimes made in a single-screw design, but are usually made in a two-screw design to reduce thrust loads around the impeller and shaft. They are also designed to withstand higher temperatures and pressures and are more capable of transporting liquids that are prone to damage to the environment.
-
Mounting feet
Since API pumps can be considered for high-temperature applications, mounting stands must have the expected expansion. An ANSI pump has mounting bases that protrude from the bottom of the body and screw into the base plate. Conversely, an API centrifugal pump is mounted on the horizontal centerline of the fuselage, not at the bottom. The legs protrude from the sides of the body and join the bases that rise above the base plate. When the expansion occurs, the mounting brackets apply minimal pressure to the body above and below the center line of the pump.
-
Bearing hosing
Bearings for API pumps should have a stronger structure. They should also include a bearing cooling device, which is usually done with cooling jackets that provide more cooling water.
-
Back cover arrangement
In the petrochemical, gas, and oil industries, the EPA wants to control greenhouse gas emissions. The ANSI back cover arrangement has a gap between the coupled faces of the frame adapter and the pump housing, which allows the release of hazardous greenhouse gases. However, the API design constitutes a stronger seal with metal-to-metal compression washers. This helps to better manage greenhouse gas emissions.
The ambiguity of the benefits of API over ANSI can lead to people choosing cheaper ANSI when the application requests an API. Make sure you do your research and talk to an engineer about the details of your process. They can ensure that you select the pump you need for long-term safety.
